Dresser Tour (03/09/18)
Hey Babes!
When I first started watching YouTube videos back in 2009, my favorite types of videos to watch were Room Tours.
1. Because I love decorating and at the time I was extremely dissatisfied with my yellow bedroom and green carpeting!
2. Because I’m a nosey bitch.
In all seriousness, I also liked room tours, because they usually provided me with a better understanding of who that person was. So, today I’m not sharing my whole room, because that requires extensive cleaning, but I am going to share my dresser with all of you.
Note: Remember that this is my childhood bedroom, and if I were to have my own space, I would definitely decorate differently. While it may seem like my favorite color is pastel pink or blue, I actually do not have a favorite color. I prefer neutral colors like white and gold.
I have a ton of stuffed animals scattered throughout my room, because I literally keep everything because I’m a hoarder that believes in sentimental value. I was made aware of my stuffed animal collection by an eight-year-old, who questioned my décor / life choices. But, I keep it quirky by putting jewelry I no longer wear on my stuffed animals. Then again, maybe that makes it creepy…
My very first cheerleading trophy from 2003! Also, I love body spray because I have a sensitive sense of smell and perfumes always smell weird on me.
Note: I have had this dresser since third grade and it is a little worn!
That’s my home girl Snuggles. She has had many looks over the years, but now she is decorated with some sorority trinkets and pins, because I’m an #adult. Also, I have a little book of self-care tips and ideas, because I think it’s super important to tend to your mental health!
Another stuffed animal decorated with jewelry…
In the back, I have a lollipop from my college cheerleading team that I was given my sophomore year when I injured my wrist. I have never opened the lollipop, but it might be time to toss it.
I obviously keep the photo of me and my husband on my dresser, because I’m a good wife. My hair is literally the size of Texas in this photo, due to the late August humidity. Also, why did no one punch me in the face that day and say, “Hey, a home-made tie dye tee shirt, is probably not the thing to wear, when meeting your husband.” I want a re-do, preferably one taken from my angle.
My mini dress form has had a variety of looks over the years, but now she is pretty trendy with her layered silver necklaces and choker.
From the items featured on my dresser, you probably have figured out that I like to travel. I have three hollow book boxes that are decorated with different European cities and I also have a travel inspo coffee table book from Kate Spade, which appeared on the other side of my dresser.
I am a pretty avid reader and I keep some of my favorite non-fiction books on my dresser. Plus, they double as décor!
Under the shelf, I have my favorite coloring book, a new kick ass poetry book and a coffee table book that I have not read yet.
Did you know that I took pottery during my senior of high school? That donut medallion is the only piece I created that did not completely suck ass. In the “Kelly” candle holder, I have the key to my Speedy 30, bobby pins and a rosary from Rome. The flowers are from my aunt’s funeral service and inside of the Juicy Couture box, I keep photos that used to be on my wall in collages.
On the top shelf, I have my Polaroid camera, a Ladurée macaron box from Paris which holds some small mementos from my time abroad, six euros (I'm fucking rich), and two gold rings from a street vendor in Rome!
Now, that I have exposed myself on the Internet as a stuffed animal hoarder, I should be receiving a phone call from the A&E channel any day now.
xoxo,
Kelly
