Sleeping With Anxiety

Hey Babes!

I have talked about my anxiety quite frequently, but I have never written about how my anxiety affects my sleeping habits. Once, I fall asleep, I am fine, I can sleep like princess Aurora, but it is the getting there that can be difficult for me. When my anxiety was at its peak, the nights I would actually spend in my bed when I wasn’t on my parent’s floor clutching onto my mom’s hand, I would listen to YouTube videos. I would re-watch or listen to the same video nightly to help me fall asleep. Oddly enough, it was a Christmas cookie baking tutorial, but I found the narrator’s voice quite soothing.

Now, years later, I still listen to relaxing videos to aid me in falling asleep after a long day. Some nights I pass out as soon as my head hits the pillow and other nights when I can’t slow my mind down, when it is going a million miles a minute, I turn to ASMR videos on YouTube. While, I do not get tingles, I do find certain channels peaceful. Side note: I don’t find eating videos the least bit comforting, they gross me the fuck out, but to each their own.

Of course, sleeping with anxiety can be hard. I can’t shut my mind off during the day when I’m awake, how am I supposed to shut it off when I’m lying in bed? So, if you have trouble falling asleep after a long day, here are three videos that I find REM inducing.

I hope that these videos help you relax at night too!

xoxo,

Kelly
