Book Shelf Tour (09/14/18)
Hey Babes!
Back in March, I shared my dresser tour with all of you, and since it was a pretty popular post, today, I thought I would share my book shelf with you babes! I have no idea where the book shelf is from, because it has been in my bedroom for as long as I can remember. When I was younger, the shelves were filled with porcelain dolls and glass figurines of dolphins and horses. When I was a preteen, these shelves were stocked with fake designer bags found at flea markets and tons of hair care products. Now, my shelf looks like this…
These trophies are strictly participation trophies. Mia Hamm, I was not. That is a photo of my first dog, Buddy. He was the most gentle and handsome black lab.
Over here, we have more participation trophies and my name tag from formal sorority recruitment
Now, we have moved on to the top shelf. Here I keep, my college graduation cap, a couple of stuffed animals and stacks of old magazines.
Up front I have a little cheerleading bear that my mom purchased for me before I started college. On the left side of the bear, I have a clock that I received my senior year of college because I cheered for all four years, and on the right, I have a glass plaque to commemorate my senior year of collegiate cheerleading. Behind the bear, I have a glass jar filled with every cheerleading bow I have ever worn.
Here are all of my little babies and a medal I received at Nationals, because my team took first place in our division.
Like I mentioned earlier, I have stacks of magazines on this shelf. This magazine is probably my favorite, because it was my first ever copy of Teen Vogue. I believe this issue is from 2007!
Over here, I keep a couple of passes from my time at New York Fashion week in February of 2015!
Finally, we have reached the book portion of my book shelf! Instead of combing through every title, I pulled three books from each shelf that are important to me!
Warriors Don’t Cry by Melba Pattillo Beals – I had to read this book the summer going into my junior year of high school for my history class. I chose this book, because when I was a sophomore in high school, I learned about the Little Rock Nine in my psychology class. This book will rip out your heart, but it is so worth it. I highly recommend this book!
In Cold Blood by Truman Capote – I actually never read this book, whoops! When I was a junior in high school, my class had to write term papers on a book and literary symbols, so I chose Capote, because of Breakfast At Tiffany’s. Unfortunately, I was not allowed to read Tiffany’s and was assigned In Cold Blood. I chose this book to show, because I am clearly a selective book worm. I only like what I like.
Going Too Far by Jennifer Echols – I LOVE this book and it was mentioned in my Haute Mess Essentials post! If you enjoy super fictional YA Romance novels, I would read this!
YITS! I now have a surplus of unicorns.
Fat Boy vs The Cheerleaders by Geoff Herbach – This story is totally out of my wheelhouse, because I am a YA fanatic. But, when I saw this book on the shelf at my Barnes and Noble, I let out a small chuckle and purchased this story and I completely tore through it!
Catching Jordan by Miranda Kenneally – This is the book that started my obsession with Kenneally’s books! I also, really love any story that involves sports.
Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead- Okay, Hollywood totally destroyed this book with a shitty movie. The book is so much better! This is the first book in the series and it just takes me back to my Junior year of high school.
I also keep pom-poms on each shelf. The two maroon poms, are from college and the silver poms are actually from fifth grade when I was on a dance team!
Dairy Queen by Catherine Gilbert Murdock- This is the book that really started it all. I read this book in the summer of 2010 as a summer reading book and I have been hooked on phonics since then. I should seriously have stock in Barnes and Noble. I am literally keeping my local store in business.
If I Should Die Before I Wake by Hans Nolan- This book will destroy your heart and make you cry, but it is an important story.
Delirium by Lauren Oliver- This book really began my love for dystopian novels and this trilogy is one of the best ones I have read. Each book could stand alone as its own story.
On the bottom shelf, I keep miscellaneous books, a wand from Harry Potter World, two light marques and a lovely sign my mom purchased for me, as if I don’t talk to her every single day.
That is my whole book shelf babes! I hope you enjoyed this post and learned a little bit about me.
xoxo,
Kelly💕
