Shit That Makes Me Happy When I’m Sad

Hey Babes!

It’s me, your resident sad anxious girl. No, but actually I have been going through it lately. Is it the universe? What’s in retrograde? Help!

From losing Bailey, to more stress at work, to getting a nasty cold and just fucking life overall, I’ve been feeling creatively drained, kinda sad and not so cute. So, besides my daily dose of Lexapro these five things make me happy when I’m feeling sad.

Leaving The House

Leaving my house and literally doing anything even as mundane as a neighborhood stroll makes me feel lighter. Move your ass, even if you’re only leaving your bed to get a coffee.

Getting A Manicure

Having my nails painted by a professional always makes me feel better. I just feel like I have my life a little more together with a fresh gel manicure. It also relaxes me just to sit in the salon and eavesdrop on other people.

Vegging Out

When I’m in a funk, I like to gather my colored pencils, a coloring book and lay in my bed while listening to a podcast. Coloring can be extremely therapeutic and calming.

Journaling

I process my thoughts and feelings best when I am able to write them all down and release it. So, when I’m feeling stressed I turn to journaling to help me navigate the situations I’m dealing with.  I’ve been journaling for over a decade and it’s one of my favorite pastimes.

Playing With Kids

I’m lucky enough to have some precious demon seeds in my family and when I’m not in a great head space hanging out with my favorite kids always makes me smile. Toddlers will keep you busy and your mind off of your problems. Plus, you’re guaranteed to laugh. If you don’t have children to borrow for the afternoon, watch something that will make you feel like a kid again.

Oooh, is she coping her problems in a healthy way? Sometimes, but of course I also DoorDash avocado egg rolls and buy myself new lounge sets. It’s all about balance.

 xoxo,
Kelly
