My Monthly Must Haves: July Edition

Hey Babes!

This year is genuinely flying by, while simultaneously feeling like the longest year of my life. Was it not just March? All of my quarantine days have swirled together and I’m shook that it is already August. This social experiment simulation of a year is more than half way done and I’m here for it!

Today, I’m going to share the five things that made an impact on me during the month of July.

Diet Coke

The Starbucks in my mall was closed for at least half of July, and I was stranded without a way to get my black tea lemonade afternoon pick me up. Sigh. Thankfully, I have the Chick-fil-a mobile app, so I didn’t have to wait in line to get a soda like a pedestrian. A fountain diet coke with good ice cubes just hits different. Do I feel like an asshole just ordering a diet coke? Yeah, I do a little bit, but what else am I supposed to do? Have Starbucks DoorDashed to work? Now, that would make me an asshole.

folklore by Taylor Swift

Wow! Okay, so Taylor and I have had an off again, on again type of relationship for the past couple of years. Before any Swiftie comes for me, no one has my unconditional love, except for maybe my dog. It was a one sided fight, but I think we’ve mended fences. folklore is filled with bops that make me want to sway in the breeze whilst wearing a white billowy dress twirling around in a field. If I had to rank my top five favorite songs, they’d be...

  1. betty

  2. the last great american dynasty

  3. the 1

  4. cardigan

  5. invisible string

Alternate: seven

iPhone XR

In July, I shattered my phone screen. I had an iPhone 7 since 2017 and I’m not really someone who cares about the newest technology or gadget. I probably would have kept mine for a while longer, if it wasn’t beyond repair. I upgraded to an iPhone XR and it’s so nice to no longer have a cracked screen. I love to send my Animoji to my friends, and I like the portrait mode quite a bit. I don’t however like how big the screen is, when I’m taking a Snapchat, because I feel like the lens up in my grill! Overall, I’m very happy with new purchase. But, I need a cute case! Let me know where you get your phone cases from!

Harry Potter Audiobooks

I started listening to the Harry Potter: At Home Readings playlist on Spotify during quarantine and I ended up liking it so much that I finished the first and second book. Now, I’m currently listening to third book, which is also one of my favorite films from the series. Truthfully, I don’t know if I’d enjoy the audiobooks so much, if I hadn’t already seen the movies. The movies help me solidify the world in my mind while listening along to the story. I’d like to read all of the books, if can find the rest on Spotify!

Athlete A on Netflix

Most of the time, I enjoy watching frivolous mind-emptying shows and movies, but for some reason I felt like I had to watch Athlete A, especially since I love watching gymnastics during the summer Olympics. I was aware of the case against Larry Nassar, but I never did a deep dive into the story. I like to avoid sad or tragic news, whenever I can, because for me it is much easier to deal with life that way. Anyway, I watched the documentary on Netflix and I sobbed, which for me is a notable occurrence because I rarely if ever cry while watching movies or shows. It is insanely easy for me to disconnect a story from the actors portraying it, but this documentary sent me on a rollercoaster ride of emotions! If you haven’t watched yet, I highly encourage you to do so. It’s a story that must be told and listened to.

What did you babes enjoy during the month of July? What helped you survive? Let me know!

xoxo,

Kelly
