Muggle’s Mug Photo Diary

Hey Babes!

I am a Harry Potter stan. I watch the movies a nauseating amount because I have the complete DVD set, I have Ginny Weasley’s wand in my room and I even listened to the recorded readings of the books during the red phase of quarantine.

I belong to Hufflepuff, but I’ve also been told by Pottermore that I am a Ravenclaw and truthfully both suit me, which kind of gives me an existential crisis. But, at least I’m not a Slytherin or a Parselmouth? Anyway, my wand has unicorn hair for its core and Luna is probably my favorite character. So, when my BFF Daisy sent me a TikTok of a Harry Potter themed coffee shop not too far from where I live, I knew I had to go!

So, we all got up early, got our Starbucks and hit the road on the coldest Saturday of the year. The Muggle’s Mug Coffee Shop is in Jim Thorpe, PA and it’s so cute. The coffee shop is decorated with Harry Potter memorabilia and decor. Harry Potter movies play via a projector and the shop even offers Wizarding World themed treats for muggles and magical folk, alike!

Obviously, I had to try an iced Butterbeer latte and a Hufflepuff cookie because Cedric Diggory did NOT die in vain. The iced coffee was really good, but I love sweeter beverages, so if your prefer your coffee to not taste like a dessert, I’m not sure you’d love it. I did however hear, that the Mandrake Maple is a popular choice as well. In addition to chocolate frogs and frothy potions, the cafe also serves traditional coffee and tea drinks. Substitutions are available to meet your dietary needs.

If you’re a Harry Potter stan and you’re unable to go to Universal Studios, this coffee shop is a fun alternative! In a pre covid world, I would have sat there all day watching movies with an iced coffee or chai and pastries! Unfortunately, that option is not available at the present time. If you’re not a Potterhead, then you might not think that the trek is worth it. But if you’re willing to go along on the adventure, the town surrounding the coffee shop is very Hallmark Channel adjacent with restaurants and small shops, so there is something for everyone.

Also, I think they should have created a treat called the Bulgarian Bonbon or even perhaps a Viktor Krum cake. Hey, Muggle’s Mug, hit me up I’m full of puns and great ideas.

I hope you babes enjoyed this post and let me know what house you’re in!

xoxo,

Kelly
