Boho Backyard Soirée

Hey Babes!

My birthday kind of falls during a strange time of year. It is usually sandwiched in between Mother's Day, graduations, the end of the school year and holidays, which makes planning for my birthday pretty difficult. This year, I decided to just bite the bullet and plan a backyard soirée for my friends. Let me take you through the planning process!

First, I went to Pinterest to get inspired and after some searching, I landed on a boho backyard picnic theme and thought that tacos would be the easiest and most versatile menu option. I looked into catering the event or ordering food, but Chipotle's pricing is out of fucking control, so I decided to make the tacos and sides.

After I chose a theme, I got attached to the idea of an outdoor screening of Scary Island from RHONY Season 3. How chic! How rich! So, I did a little research on Google and was shocked by how expensive it would be to rent a projector, inflatable screen and audio equipment. Hi, I am balling on a budget and can't blow $500 on a movie experience. Sad.

But, since I have a Taurus sun and am super stubborn, I was not going to give up easily. I found a projector and screen by Packard Bell sold on Urban Outfitters website for about $100 and decided to purchase it. The projector came with multiple cords for viewing, but if you plan on using your phone or any apple device, make sure you also purchase an Apple Lighting to Digital AV Adapter or else you won’t be able to stream it from your device. Ugh!

Then, I had to get thrifty! My dad is an electrician and secured a long wood pallet from a delivery at work and then he sawed it in half so the table was at a good height for eating. He asked a carpenter at work to cut him a piece of dry wall that when then laid on top of the stacked wood. I used decor from my house to set my table, I polished off my mom's fancy plates and then gathered pillows that we had laying around for our seating.

Here's The Result...

Tbh, I’m pretty proud of myself! Let me know if this post inspired you to grab your gals and have an outdoor picnic.

xoxo,

Kelly
