Quarter of a Century In Quarantine

Hey Babes!

This is my first blog post, as a 25 year old! Isn't that some shit? Today, I wanted to share about how I celebrated my birthday in quarantine.

To be transparent, I am not someone who goes all out for their birthday every year. I prefer to have a low key day, with a little bit of pampering. There were obviously a few differences to my birthday this year versus other birthdays before, like I couldn't go sit a restaurant or café and enjoy a meal, I couldn't get a manicure or my hair done, but even with those restrictions in place, I still managed to have a great day!

I started my day off with a frozen caramel coffee from Dunkin and when I came home from the drive thru, I noticed a balloon attached to a package outfront! My Felicias, sent me an Edible Arrangement filled with delicious chocolate covered strawberries, a teddy bear and a birthday balloon. I was so happy and surprised by their thoughtful present. For breakfast, I made my mom and I, my famous avocado toast on some thick artisan bread, which was *chef's kiss *

When I was preparing for my quarantine quarter life crisis, I went back and forth on what kind of cake I wanted! At first, I wanted to order a cake from Milk Bar, but then I decided to make my own Funfetti cake. Everyone knows that I love Harry Potter, so I thought it would be an amazing idea to decorate my cake to resemble the cake that Hagrid made for Harry for his 11th birthday! I dyed the vanilla icing pink with food coloring, bought green sparkly gel icing for the lettering and used a toothpick to create the crack in the cake from where Hagrid sat on it.

Later that morning, my mom surprised me with having twenty five balloons delivered to our house. The balloons were a picture perfect array of bright hues and reminded me of Miley Cyrus' music video for Malibu. Then I got ready for my lunch! My family and I did a small social distancing Chick-fil-a lunch, complete with my own personal chocolate cupcake so they could sing Happy Birthday to me. Despite the social distancing and sanitizer, it gave me such a sense of normalcy and I was excited to see faces that I haven't seen in months. Plus, it was a beautiful day outside, so it was nice to soak in that Vitamin D.

After my family left, my dad brought me home an iced chai from Starbucks with light ice and extra cinnamon powder, and if anything good has come from quarantine, it is that my dad now knows my Starbucks order by heart. Which is perfect, except that he calls it a "chive" and not a chai. I had more fun social distancing with other family later that day and even got to see my precious 9 month old cousin who is truly the light of my life. His mom and I played photoshoot in my neighbors backyard with my balloons and it made me feel like myself again.

For dinner we ordered my favorite white veggie pizza with heaps of ricotta cheese and crushed red peppers and enjoyed my Harry Potter cake for dessert, but I have yet to receive my Hogwarts letter. Two of my best friends, Daisy and Lauren surprised me by driving over to my house. They played Katy Perry's song aptly titled, "Birthday" from their car while they danced along with handmade signs. I am so grateful to have so many people in my life that made my day so very special.

My parents spoiled me this year with a David Yurman Cable Classic Bracelet, with pearls located on either side of the cuff. I have been lusting after this item for years and I can't wait to wear it somewhere other than my house or in my corona kitchen. I ended the night with a HouseParty chat with my Felicias and because I am a monster, I made them sing Happy Birthday to me over video chat while I wore a tiara and blew out a singular candle on a cupcake.

I wanted to thank everyone who took the time out of their day to wish me a Happy Birthday. I genuinely appreciated each and every, text, phone call and message. Here's to a great year, because we can really only go up from here.
