Grinch Cookies - Blogmas Day 17

Hey Babes!

Happy Thursday and Happy Blogmas Day 17! Tuesday night I was sitting in my sweatpants watching Harry Potter on ON Demand with my parents, when I realized that I didn't have a blog post for Thursday. So, I took my uninspired ass over to Pinterest and searched for holiday recipes that were attainable and that included ingredients I already had at home. I can be quite single minded. Like, when I have made up my mind about something, I am full steam ahead. I don't like to wait once I am sold on an idea, so once I realized that I should create a recipe post, there was no waiting until tomorrow.

After a little bit of scrolling, I found the perfect recipe that called for ingredients that I had readily available. With that being said, today we're making cookies inspired by the movie, How The Grinch Stole Christmas! Let's do this.

First, preheat the oven to 375°F while you prepare your cookies. Next, you'll need...

sugar cookie mix

green food dye

an egg

one stick of butter

vanilla extract

Listen, I am not Ina Garten or Mary Berry. I use cookie and cake mix from Betty Crocker and I legit have never had anyone complain about my baked goods. That's that, on that.

Anyways, once the dough has been formed you'll add the green food dye or gel. I started out by adding in a little and then mixing it together. Then I went back in and gradually added in more dye until I achieved the green color that I was looking for.

I dropped the dough onto my parchment lined baking sheets and then put them into the oven for about seven minutes. Personally, I prefer to under-bake my sugar cookies and then allow for them to kind of finish baking on the hot tray. God, I sound like I know what I am fucking talking about. Confidence over competence.

While the cookies are cooling, take your icing and add in some red food coloring. Mix that shit up and then spoon it into your "piping bag" or Ziploc baggie if you're not a legit baker like me. Then snip off a tiny piece of the bag and pipe a heart onto the cookie. The shape, size and whether or not the heart is colored in, is totally up to you. GO WILD!

Then ta-da, you're done! I forced my mom to try the cookies and she really enjoyed them. If you babes are bored and in need of a holly jolly activity, I recommend giving this recipe a try!
