It’s Been A Year…

Hey Babes!

A year ago today, I was sitting in the hair salon getting my hair colored while the stylists and their middle aged clients were discussing the Coronavirus. They gave their views on masks and going out to eat, but truly, I was completely oblivious to it all. I vaguely knew what they were talking about, but I wasn’t educated about Covid. I was blissfully unaware of what was about to unfold.

Later that night, it was announced that my job was shutting down for two weeks as were any stores or businesses not deemed essential. My parents and I went to our local CVS to grab “supplies” but the shelves were bare and we were shocked and a little panicked.

We all lived through this past year and we know that two weeks turned into a month, then three months and now masks and sanitizer are our new normal. It’s so wild to me, because I remember before masks were mandated my parents and I walked through Target in our N95’s and people stared at us like we were the ones who were fucking nuts.

Instead of me unloading all of the bullshit I’ve gone through over this past year, I’m going to share some positives. Because believe it or not, there were some positives.

Over this past year I...

Baked a ton of pound cake and butter cake.

Started taking virtual yoga classes.

Became a clean freak who loves to do the laundry.

I watched, re watched and then watched The Real Housewives of New York again on Hulu.

Filed for unemployment and was able to create a savings for myself.

Read a few books.

Developed an unhealthy and very codependent relationship with my dog, Bailey. She can eat off of a fork now.  #ProudSister

Redecorated my bedroom.

Watched Harry Potter a nauseating amount.

Hung out with all of my Felicia’s in person, a total of two times!

I don’t know when or if we’ll be able to experience a pre-covid, pre-quarantine life in the same way again, but I hope so.

xoxo,

Kelly
